Coffee maker is clean; even bought a new one. Changed coffee brands several times. City water is OK. Local restaurants seem to have no problem.

    Add just a small amount of salt to your coffee grounds before you start brewing your coffee.

    Coffee beans have oil in them just like peanuts do.

    I have the same problem with the coffee i buy every morning; served in a styrofoam cup…but it doesn’t happen until i have microwaved it once!

    That means you’ve used a tad too much coffee! Taste of course is a huge factor, but if you really don’t want the oily film on the top then add more water!
