I gave Daphnia some alcohol, coffee, and redbull. These substances increased the Daphnias heart rate. I don’t understand why. The tobacco slowed down the heart rate. Why did that happen too.

    Essentially, tobacco (or the nicotine in it) temporarily increases the person’s heart rate because it increases blood pressure. When the tobacco passes out of said person, their blood pressure lowers. (Second Article)
    Basically, alcohol makes the blood vessel walls relax. (First Article)
    Coffee and redbull both contain caffeine which is a stimulant
