I just re-painted my walls a coffee colour and am unsure of what colour curtains I should buy. The sofa and chair are a french vanilla colour and the tables in the room are a black-brown colour. Also I have two big pictures above the couch that have the same colour of the couch in it with some black through it.

You are at a line. You can cross over to the too much earth colors. Do you have a theme or accent color?
The rule of thumb is three colors. You have the two, so accent it all with pillows of color. Find lite curtains that have a design that will pull your colors. Black curtains would look nice, but your room willl look smaller and again you need that extra color. Mint, burgandy,

What about a very rich red or orange? This will give your monotone room a color hit, you could also use these accents around the room in pillows, candles or vases. You need to add an accent color otherwise the room will be bland. Try it and you will see that it will really pop the room

Wow, that sounds very pretty! I would probably go with black w/a touch of cream colored curtains. Or bamboo, depending on your decor.
Take a picture, I want to see that color combo!
Hope that helped!

try ivory, off white or light pastel yellow. with the yellow you could have a thin diagonal brown or black stripe if you like.

I like the combination of brown and aqua. So, aqua curtains.

You really can punch in just about any color you like.
A few i visualized off the top of my head were:
Metallic Gold
Teal
Salmon (not too orange, not too pink)
