What are the mechanics behind this? I understand that the coffee maker no longer needs to heat the water, but why does it go so much faster?

It doesnt taste like normal coffee? Is it the coffee or is it me? Ive tried drinking it straight (black) with creamer, with milk, Ive tried using splenda, equal, sweet n low, Im trying sugar tommarrow. I just cant figure it out.
