Presto 02811 12-Cup Stainless Steel Coffeemaker

Review
One of the most comforting sounds in the world is the bubbling of a coffee percolator at work. And then comes the toasty aroma–it makes for a perfect morning. Percolators have come back to home kitchens, and the Presto 12-cup stainless steel coffee maker is a prime example. Its elegant, hotel-style design brings a touch of luxury to what is for many a daily pleasure. This coffee maker brews up to twelve cups of coffee at a cup-a-minute rate, which it then keeps at a constant, piping-hot serving temperature. An indicator light in the base announces when the coffee is ready. The inner fixtures–the filter basket and perk tube–are also made of stainless steel, rather than the more common (and less durable) aluminum. The (more…)

    Excellent Coffeemaker
Makes a great pot of java. Coffee is rich, frothy and very hot. Very fast brewing at 1 cup per minute. Sleek and elegant design is a bonus.

Presto 12 cup stainless coffee maker
The Presto 12 cup coffee maker works fine. The only difficulty I had was removing the top of the coffee maker, it is a snug fit and requires effort to remove.

I thought my Hamilton Beach percolator was decent for the price, I even wrote a review about it in December, 2006. One week later, this 1-year old coffee maker was barely keeping the coffee hot. Then I visited my son in Alaska at Christmas and noticed that his 6-yr old Presto percolator was still delivering great, hot coffee in record time. I returned home, ordered my Presto 12-cup percolator and am highly impressed. It’s lighter, easier to load, easier to pour, easier to clean, perks ultra-fast and makes a great, hot cup of coffee. Because of its lighter stainless steel pot, it cools down faster if you want to make a second batch of coffee right away. (We make two pots and pour the first batch into a thermos for back-up when company comes) Based on its performance, I’m surprised the price is so reasonable.

After using drip coffee makers for many years, we decided to buy a percolator. We are wondering why we waited so long to go back to the percolator. The coffee is great and it is hot and stays hot.

I’ve used every type of coffee maker around. I look for all stainless- that means NO plastic or aluminum contacting the water—-this has been a great product for me–I love perked coffee. When I’m not using this I use a Cona glass vacuum maker— I’m a purist about materials and coffee making. Presto has been the most reliable of all my electric percs. It’s all stainless.

    Blast from the past
I purchased this device because my wife became of a fan of the perked coffee (it is a stronger way to brew, IMHO).
This device is slick, quick, and easy to clean.

    Presto! Great Coffee!
I bought this percolator to replace a standard, plastic-laden coffee maker, and I have absolutely no regrets!

A hint about longer brewing times
I’ve had this pot for about 2 yrs now and love it.
However I have recently noticed the 12 min brewing time was getting longer, up to 20 min.

DON’T KNOW WHY I WAITED SO LONG
I grew up with perked coffee. Then along came “drips” and we were all convinced this was progress and just bought newer models every couple of yrs.
