All one has to do is have coffee made by a coffee press once to see how superior the brew made by this method is compared to any brewing method using a filter. I wanted a ceramic coffee press because my glass one chipped at the spout and I thought ceramic would be sturdier. However, the plunger does not fit the inside of the press well enough to keep the grounds from getting into the coffee. I even tried the plunger from my glass press and had no better luck. So I am back to the chipped coffee press and will just have to be careful washing it.

I have been using my LaCafetiere Ceramic French Press for about a year and a half now and have been quite happy with it. The ceramic provides a great layer of insulation and is more sturdy than a glass press.
Also the filter mechanism easily comes apart for cleaning or replacement. I expect to use the press long into the future.
