I put some coffee grounds in a basil plant, a banana plant and a pepper plant. I also put some in other regular house plants. Is it a good idea?

Coffee grounds are always good for plants. They are a good soil amendment, help retain moisture.

It’s better to compost the grounds before adding them to houseplants. Vermicomposting (essentially a box with worms and bedding) will compost the grounds in a couple of months. You’ll avoid over acidification and the plants will have an easier time using the nutrients.
Simply adding coffee to your plants will take a year to fully decompose and become accessible nutrients. If you’re adding grounds every time you have coffee, you can easily kill your plants.

only if the plant is acid loving then yes it raises the acid ph level
