1 - 1 1/2 cups, depending on how strong you like your coffee.

I don’t know about pounds, but I use a 1/3 cup scoop of ground coffee to fill a 5-cup carafe, so presumably you would need four times that much, or 1 1/3 cups of ground coffee to get the same strength of brewed coffee. 1 1/2 cups would be OK, too, if that makes it simpler. That’s a lot less than one pound.
