I’m a coffee addict. I drink anywhere up to 8 cups of not so strong instant coffee per day. I don’t get the jitters or a headache and I sleep like a log for 8 hours every nite. I have switched to the “green” nescafe for more antioxidants. What’s your opinion?

I won’t drink instant at all. I roast my own beans & have six ways to brew.
The “green” you’re talking about is decaf. How are you addicted to bad decaf?
Decaf doesn’t mean you get more antioxidants, just less caffeine.

I think the present idea is that coffee is ok - it used to be looked down upon. It was green tea which was ‘natural/healthy’ - but since then coffee is being recognized as a great source of anti-oxidants.
There’s also another thing you get with instant you don’t get with drip. When they make coffee for instant - they pour in unbelievably hot water to get the good out of the coffee grounds - and what they wash out is a lot of fiber. That was a surprise. I saw that in some science magazine. So when you drink your instant coffee, you’re also getting a good jag of fiber.
Drink it - but maybe as you get older the caffeine might bother you some.

Although there is no simple answer to your question I would suggest reading the nutrition label on the instant coffee you’re drinking. From there you can decide yourself how drinking upwards of 8 cups of instant coffee per day will effect your health. On the other hand real coffee made from real coffee beans is quite healthy for you and contains 0 calories. If you drink a high quality gourmet coffee with low acidity and brew it with a paper filter coffee maker then your 8 cups a day would be absolutely fine. The only unnatural ingredient your body would be taking in is Caffeine.

Zero cups per day are ok…Instant coffee is the spawn of the Devil. Stick to real coffee.

3.. any more than that and it wreaks havoc on your body. If not so strong maybe 4. or 5, pushing it.
