I use a Mr. Coffee coffee pot and currently use 8 o’clock coffee. I have used starbucks and dunkin donuts but 8 o’clock tastes great and is priced reasonably. I usually make 4 cups every morning. how much coffee should i put in? thank you in advance.

As a coffee roaster I get this question very often. The specialty coffee association of america recommends using 2 tablespoons of ground coffee for every 6 ounce cup made. It doesn’t matter who makes the coffee, use that much to get the proper extraction. If the cup seems a little too strong for your taste, add a little water afterwords to weaken the cup a little so that it suits your taste.
When brewing coffee, the proper ratio of water to grinds is required to ensure extraction occurs properly. Using an amount of ground that is too small will result in being over extracted, and the cup will be bitter, sour or will have off flavours. Using too much ground coffee will result in an under extracted cup which will taste sour, carboardy and otherwise not too great at all!!
Hope that helps!

It varies by the coffee, grind size, & machine.
Start with about 1.5 tbsp of coffee per 6oz cup and adjust to your taste. Also, coffee machines aren’t very good @ making less than a full pot, so don’t use it for a half pot.
Many machines don’t get the water hot enough (205F) to properly brew the coffee. You’re not drinking enough to need a full sized machine. I’d recommend trying a french press. It needs about 1/2 tbsp less coffee, and all you need is boiling water and 4 minutes.
Very important: freshness matters. If you can buy fresh roasted beans & grind right before brewing, that will make everything better.
