I absolutely love Lysol All Purpose disenfectant Spray (lemon scent). Have it in each bath and in the kitchen. Works beautifully on everything and smells yummy besides.
With some old dampened rags, perhaps a scrubber sponge, you could virtually wipe off the crud pronto.

A quick, easy and inexpensive method is using good old- fashioned white vinegar. Heat a little up in the microwave till warm, then apply with a rag or paper towels. Should remove all the gunk on the heating plate!
Also, I run a quart of white vinegar through my machine once a month and it keeps it sparkling clean and my coffee tastes great. That way, you’re cleaning and de-scaling the entire machine– not just the heating element. Just be sure to run a pot of water (or two) through the machine *after* the vinegar to remove all the residue.
Another option would be to try one of the coffee maker cleaners (Mr. Coffee makes a good one) they sell at the grocery or discount stores.
Good Luck!

try using a scrubbing bubble cleaner, maybe several times. you might need to use a knife or something kind of sharp to break it apart. then the easiest thing to do after you get it cleaned is to take a paper towel or cloth every day and wipe it off.
