I have stubborn coffee and tea stains in coffee mugs.
Is there something I can use to bring back like new condition or should I just chuck them and don’t buy white again. I think its because I left them to long in the sink without soaking and it caused the stain to come off. I used hot, soapy water but it still didn’t come out totally?
Should I use bleach ? I didn’t think so? But, I had to ask?

you can use bleach on porcelain/stoneware cups. If there are glazing cracks in them and the coffee has stained into the cracks they may not bleach out, but if there are no glazing cracks, a little bleach will work just fine.

To remove coffee stains from mugs you will need a sponge, vinegar and table salt.
- Moisten a kitchen sponge with some white vinegar. Don’t drench it, but make sure the area you’ll use to rub the stain with is saturated enough.
- Pour a small amount of table salt onto the sponge. This will act as an abrasive for the scrubbing.
- Rub the stain with the sponge, in a circular motion as you would to buff wax on a car. Don’t be afraid to rub with a decent amount of pressure.
- Rinse the mug out with warm water and repeat the process if you need to, being sure to apply more salt or vinegar to the sponge.
Personally, I think you should treat yourself to some new pretty mugs.

Remove Coffee Stains From:
Porcelain Dishes, Porcelain Fixtures
Clean the stain by washing it in warm sudsy water or wiping it with a cloth dipped in warm sudsy water. Rinse well and wipe it dry. To remove old stain from the bottom of cups, dip a soft, damp cloth into baking soda and wipe any remaining stain. Rinse well and dry. White Vinegar and some salt to make a paste scrub then rinse in warm water and dry will also work to remove coffee stains
Good Luck !

bleach is fine. it will not harm you if you rinse and dry the cups really good. however if it still doesn’t come out then u need to probably get new ones. any other cleaning agent may harm you if you use it in the cups. I bet oxy clean might clean it but I am not sure if its okay to wash a cup or dish in the solution. I hope it works!

yes, bleach. years ago…in my teenage years, we used bleach at the restaurant I worked at. it was a coffee shop
we also used lemon juice, a little salt, and a few ice cubes to get them out of the coffee pots. by swirling the pot around…..that worked great too

NEVER EVER use bleach on your eating utensils, food articles. I would suggest a natural cleaner as baking soda. Mix baking soda with a little water to make a paste and scrub and let it sit for at least a day… then rinse. Good Luck and stay away from the bleach dear.

I pour neat breach into the bottom of the mug and leave it to stand overnight. If its still stained, give it a scrub with the bleach and hot water. You need to rinse it out well and wash it ‘as normal’ then rinse again.
I have found this works.

You can bleach them. Put them into hot water with a small amount of bleach and let them soak for a while. Make sure you wash them extremely well after the soak.

I have the same problem. I periodically scrub my cups out with baking soda, and it lifts the coffee stains very well indeed.

Hot water and a touch of bleach soaked for a couple hours should work. Just make sure you clean them a couple times after, bleach makes coffee taste bad.

I buy a product called Soft Scrub. it gets stains out of anything. you could also use baking soda to get the stains out.

If your white cups are disposable, you just buy new.
If not try it by rinsing chemicals or by cheapest means, use sand.

Go to your local wal-mart or hardware store and get some CLR(calcium,lime.rust). It works wonders on many things.
