Can I Use Wd40 To Clean My Coffee Table?

Coffee Talk

My wife’s cat spilled soap on our coffee table when we were out of town. The stain had a chance to set, and I have tried toothpaste mixed with baking soda, and oil for wood. Will WD40 hurt my coffee table, remove the stain, or just cover it up? Does anybody out there have any better tips for cleaning this stain?

i would not use WD to clean anything as it is a penatrating type stuff and would strip the finish off and make the table oily

I really wouldn’t advise it. Ask at the hardware store for something used on hardwood floors.

If soap won’t come off with a rag with just plain warm water I think you are going to have to sand the coffee table and revarnish it if.

I have found that you can clean a finished table or furniture with Mineral Spirits. It’s a good enough solvent to remove a lot of things…but will not remove a finish that is on there.
Do not use acetone, lacquer thinner, or any other fast drying solvent. It just melts the finish and flashes off to quick to clean furniture.
